Job Description

The Quality Engineer under the direction of the Manager of Quality, is responsible for implementing, evaluating, and improving inner plant Quality Systems and performance.

Job Skills and Knowledge:

  • Quality Engineer establishes production standards by creating quality control systems.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation on nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Responsible for following all customer programs for engineering changes, specification requirements, material changes, or other activities involved with the program as directed.
  • Aid and implement Quality Systems, including SPC, incoming inspections, and auditing.
  • Conduct capability studies on existing and future processes and machinery.
  • Write control plans, PEMEA’s, flow diagrams, D.O.E. and other advance quality aids.
  • Lead the Corrective Action Phases and prepare the documentation that results from the investigations and corrections. Follow up on improvements.
  • Lead and participate in training sessions, including problem solving, SPC, and measurement analysis.
  • Help review Customer Award standards and action plans to achieve them, including Q1, TFE, and Pentestar.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with statistical background, ASQC certified CQE or CRE, or three to five years’ experience in quality.
  • ASQ certification as a Certified Mechanical Inspector or Certified Quality Technician is preferred.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to complete 8D or A3 for external vendor related NCM.
  • Must be flexible, work as a team player, and interact with all areas in manufacturing, engineering, document control as well as vendors.
  • Must have the following skills or knowledge: technical/shop math, blueprint reading/GD&T, inspection tools/equipment, gauge calibration/calibration system, quality systems/auditing, supplier quality/receiving inspection system, process analysis/improvement (Pareto chart, trend chart, flow chart), problem solving/corrective action reporting, hardness, and plating testing knowledge.
  • Must be able to verify part dimensions using engineering drawings / specifications.
  • Able to lift 40-50 lbs. when needed.
  • Must be able to travel to other NOVA locations as needed domestic and international.
