Purchaser, Delta OH

This position will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and purchasing steel from new and existing suppliers for the company. This position requires critical thinking, excellent negotiation skills, and strong face to face, telephone, and electronic communication skills. This position also requires the ability to learn price and cost structures, logistics, scrap metal, and other factors affecting pricing and trends.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of safety awareness and safety prioritization.

• Manages the planning, controlling, and purchasing of materials
• Ensures material availability to support manufacturing
• Conducts analysis of material costs and best pricing
• Setting up supplier development programs to increase supplier communication, delivery performance, and quality level.
• Analysis on make-or-buy decisions on certain commodities.
• Look for new suppliers that meet our supplier requirements and increase savings.
• Look for savings opportunities by negotiating with suppliers, optimizing the design on parts, by resourcing from one supplier to another to help optimizing internal/supplier production process.
• Maintains quality compliance standards of purchased productions
• Responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating materials/services from suppliers.
• Enter purchase orders as per the purchasing queue.
• Follow up with purchase order confirmations.
• Monitor supplier service, performance, and quality of products received.
• Ensure parts arrive on time for systems on the production schedule. Knows how to expedite when needed.
• Maintain inventory levels for materials and components.

• Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the division management team.
