Job Description

This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures involved in manufacturing processes. Duties include developing efficient manufacturing systems, processes, and machine automation techniques to maximize the throughput of production lines that result in high-quality products.  This position will report to the General Manager (or designate).

Job Skills and Knowledge:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed.
  • Study production and machine requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective automated and manual systems.
  • Manage design, build, and install new equipment.
  • Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources.
  • Optimize production processes to improve performance.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Resolve issues and delays in production – downtime, over cycle, equipment reliability.
  • Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality.
  • Train staff in new and existing processes.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on driving our organization to operational excellence.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)
  • Project management skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team orientated environment.
