Job Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for organizing inbound and outbound trucking/rail.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and safety prioritization.
  • Managing and planning for logistics or transportation issues
  • Maintaining reports and records of transportation team
  • Supervising and training all members of logistics team
  • Tracking the status of goods in real-time to ensure commitments/contracts are being fulfilled
  • Delivering solutions to any logistics problems
  • Negotiating contracts with transportation suppliers, and owner operators
  • Purchase appropriate equipment, insurance, permits.
  • Ensure carriers safety and compliance and adequately insure. Annual follow up of insurance certificates

Qualifications

Education

  • High School or equivalent (required)
  • Technical/Vocational Training a Plus

Experience & Certifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Logistics
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple processes simultaneously
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership and training abilities
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Requires excessive standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, lifting, and carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. The job requires a good finger dexterity, vision, hearing, speaking, and the ability to control power tools.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work will experience seasonal temperature changes (extreme heat and cold), and other unpredictable weather elements.
  • Work is performed on a variety of surfaces including concrete, pavement, unpaved parking lots, slopes, uneven terrain, and slippery terrains.
  • Work is performed in areas of dirt, dust, fumes, noise, and vibrations.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
  • Pass initial drug test and physical.
